Conveyor pulleys used to drive conveyor belts. It is usually installed in an external bearing and driven by a motor and reducer. The conveyor head pulley can be flat or arched. Many pulleys have hysteresis to reduce belt slippage. Conveying drums, wing wheels and spiral wheels are the most common styles of drive wheels.

A conveyor pulley is a mechanical device comparable to a conveyor roller that is utilized to alter the instructions of the belt in a conveyor system or to drive the belt or to put tension on the belt. A pulley is far more heavy-duty than a roller as well as used at either end of a conveyor or near the drive/motor.
