Buffer rollers are used in belt conveyors at the receiving end to reduce the impact of falling material on the conveyor belt. They are installed below the receiving section of the conveyor to minimize the impact of material on the belt, thereby extending the lifespan of the conveyor belt. The spacing between buffer rollers is generally 100-600 millimeters.

Diameter parameter

According to the Chinese national conveyor industry standards, belt conveyors with a belt width of 500mm-1400mm have four standard types of buffer rollers, which are: φ89mm, φ108mm, φ133mm, and φ159mm.

With the emergence of high-bandwidth belt conveyors, the diameter of the buffer rollers has also shown a trend of increasing.

Advantages

The buffer roller is lightweight with low rotational inertia. The special polymer material used for the roller is lightweight, with a density that is one-seventh that of steel. Rollers made from this material weigh about half as much as ordinary rollers, have low rotational inertia, and experience less friction between the roller and the belt.

Reason for damage

1. Due to the high dust levels at the material drop point, poor sealing performance of the buffer rollers can easily lead to contamination and damage to the bearings.

2. The buffer rubber rings are mostly made from recycled rubber, which not only has poor elasticity but also poor wear resistance, tear resistance, and aging resistance. With low impact force, their lifespan is only about 1 year, and with high impact force, they can break and fall off in just over ten days, causing serious damage to the conveyor belt. In situations where there is no other option, many conveyor belts have started to use expensive impact beds.
