Anthracite, commonly known as white coal or red coal. It is the coal with the highest degree of coalification. Anthracite coal has a high fixed carbon content, low volatile matter yield, high density, high hardness, high ignition point, and does not produce smoke when burned. Black, hard, with a metallic luster. When rubbed with oil, it does not stain; the fracture surface resembles a shell; when burned, the flame is short and produces little smoke. No coking. Generally, the carbon content is above 90%, and the volatile matter is below 10%. No adhesive layer thickness. The calorific value is approximately 6000-6500 kilocalories per kilogram. Sometimes, those with particularly high volatile content are called semi-anthracite, and those with particularly low content are called high anthracite.

China's predicted anthracite coal reserves are 47.4 billion tons, accounting for 10% of the country's total coal resources, with an annual production of 2 billion tons. Shanxi Province accounts for 32%, Henan Province accounts for 18%, and Guizhou Province accounts for 11%. China has six major anthracite coal bases: Beijing Jingmei Group, Jincheng Coal Industry Group, Jiaozuo Coal Industry Group, Henan Yongcheng Mining Area, Shenhua Ningmei Group, and Yangquan Coal Industry Group. Among them, the anthracite coal from Jiegou Mountain in Ningxia has an ash content of less than 7% and a sulfur content ranging from 0.6-2.9%, making it a rare high-quality anthracite coal.
