On the morning of June 26, the second working meeting of the coal–steel industry exchange mechanism for 2026 was held in Harbin, co-hosted by the China Coal Transportation and Marketing Association and the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, with our group company serving as the organizer. Shi Hongwei, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, and Shi Ying, Vice Chairman of the China Coal Transportation and Marketing Association, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Leaders from six major coal companies-Shanxi Coking Coal, Shandong Energy, Longmay Group, Huaibei Mining, China National Energy Group, and China National Coal Group-as well as from six leading steel enterprises-Baowu Group, Ansteel Group, HBIS Group, Hunan Steel, Shagang Group, and Jianlong Group-also took part.
The meeting provided an overview of the current performance of the coal and steel sectors, analyzed recent shifts in supply and demand in both markets, and reported on the fulfillment of medium- to long-term coking coal contracts and changes in floating price adjustments. Leaders from the participating coal and steel companies then exchanged views and made presentations.
All participants agreed that the coal and steel industries are closely intertwined and share a common destiny. In times of market volatility, adhering to long-term contract‑based pricing, practicing rational pricing, and ensuring honest contract performance are crucial measures for mitigating extreme market swings and safeguarding against operational risks. Leading enterprises, in particular, were urged to take the lead by setting clear examples and proactively stepping up to stabilize the industrial chain and underpin market expectations.
