Vietnam's Cement And Clinker Exports Increased in November

2025-12-24 00:00

Vietnam's cement and clinker exports continued their strong growth momentum in November 2025, with a monthly export volume reaching 3.55 million tons, a 61.9% year-on-year increase and a solid 2.4% month-on-month improvement. This data was released by the Vietnam Customs on December 8. Although it does not specifically distinguish between the composition of cement and clinker, the overall scale fully demonstrates the effectiveness of its market expansion in overseas markets. The cumulative performance this year has been even more impressive, with total exports from January to November reaching 33.4 million tons, an increase of 21.7% compared to the same period last year, laying a solid foundation for the full-year performance.

Bangladesh continues to maintain its position as Vietnam's largest export destination, receiving 497,200 tons in November, an increase of nearly 75% year-on-year. The Philippines and Malaysia follow closely behind, forming, together with Bangladesh and Taiwan, the core group of buyers for Vietnamese cement products. What is even more noteworthy is the breakthrough in market diversification, as Brazil and Angola received their first Vietnamese cement and clinker cargo ships in November this year, marking Vietnam's successful establishment of a new overseas growth point. The Cement Information and Data Center (ClDC), a subsidiary of the Vietnam Cement Association, pointed out that the recent sustained recovery in export activities has effectively alleviated the high inventory pressure in the domestic market.

The strong recovery on the demand side is a key factor supporting export growth. The simultaneous improvement in domestic and international markets is due, on the one hand, to the acceleration of public investment spending and the recovery of civil construction activities, and on the other hand, to favorable weather conditions in the fourth quarter that have accelerated the disbursement of funds for government projects, driving steady growth in domestic consumption. Based on this trend, ClDC predicts that Vietnam's total cement and clinker exports for 2025 will reach approximately 37 million tons, reflecting the industry's optimistic outlook for the future market.

However, the path to expansion for Vietnam's cement industry is not a smooth one. Global market competition is becoming increasingly fierce, and major exporting countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and China are also facing the problem of overcapacity and are actively increasing their overseas dumping efforts. At the same time, key markets such as the Philippines, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Taiwan have raised entry barriers by tightening technical standards, strengthening environmental requirements, and maintaining or expanding trade relief measures to restrict imports. The CDC warns that this will impose higher demands on Vietnamese manufacturers, who must focus on improving product quality and response speed.
