Xinjiang's New Energy Export Power Output

2026-03-19 00:00

Since the launch of Xinjiang power export in 2010, the cumulative export of new energy from Xinjiang has exceeded 304.3 billion kilowatt-hours

Xinjiang is rich in energy resources, and after many years of development, it has formed a power transmission system with three ultra-high voltage direct current lines (±1100 kV Changji-Guquan, ±800 kV Hami South-Zhengzhou, and ±800 kV Hami-Chongqing) as the backbone, supplemented by two AC transmission channels. The total capacity for power export from Xinjiang reaches 33 million kilowatts.

By the end of 2025, Xinjiang has built 6 gigawatt-level new energy bases, with a total new energy installed capacity of 169 million kilowatts, accounting for 64% of Xinjiang's total installed capacity, laying a solid foundation for the continuous export of green power.

In 2025, Xinjiang's new energy export power reached 44.382 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of over 13% year-on-year, and its share of total exported power rose to 33.25%, achieving a structural optimization where "every three kilowatt-hours of Xinjiang power includes one kilowatt-hour of green power."

In response to the intermittent and volatile characteristics of new energy sources, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. has developed an automatic power generation control system that covers all elements of wind, solar, hydropower, thermal power, and energy storage, enabling coordinated interaction and real-time precise control among the source, grid, load, and storage. In 2025, the first cross-regional green power trading between Beijing and Xinjiang was successfully implemented.

Since the beginning of this year, Xinjiang's power exports have accelerated, with the total export volume exceeding 30 billion kilowatt-hours by March 11, 14 days ahead of the 2025 target.
