Classification of Pulleys

2026-05-13 00:00 Baoke Machinery

By Function Category
Drive pulleys: Used to transmit power and braking force, they are the core components of belt conveyors and can be further classified into conventional drive pulleys, electric pulleys, gear pulleys, and planetary gear/cycloidal drive pulleys.
Steering Pulley: Only changes the direction of the conveyor belt without transmitting power; common functions include tension adjustment and return conveying.
Special Function Rollers: Vacuum Pulleys, Magnetic Pulleys, Ceramic Pulleys.

Classification by Drive Method
Power Roller: Equipped with a motor for direct drive, with the drive unit located outside the roller for a compact structure. Internal drive type: The reducer is built inside the pulley, suitable for high-power equipment. Gear/planetary gear/cycloidal gear transmission: Corresponds to different power requirements.
Unpowered roller: Driven by gravity or external force, such as a spring-loaded pulley.

Classification by Structural Form
Cylindrical Roller: Basic cylindrical structure, suitable for general conveying applications.
Conical rollers: Improve material flow characteristics, commonly found in inclined conveying systems.
Drum-shaped pulley.

Other classification dimension
For large machinery (such as paper machine pulleys, length over 10m, diameter ≥1500mm).
For small assembly lines (length ≤ 1m, diameter ≤ 159mm)
