RS is a contact-type seal, where the sealing ring is in close contact with the inner ring of the bearing, resulting in a good sealing effect similar to that of an oil seal. However, due to the friction between the sealing ring and the inner ring, the maximum speed of RS-type bearings is relatively low.
In contrast, RZ is a non-contact type seal, where the sealing ring does not directly contact the inner ring of the bearing, which reduces friction and allows RZ-type bearings to achieve higher maximum speeds, approaching that of open-type bearings. However, due to its non-contact nature, the sealing effect of the RZ sealing ring is relatively poor, primarily serving as a dust-proof function. If better sealing is required, it is usually used in conjunction with an oil seal device.
