Buffer roller (impact idler), also known as anti-impact roller, is a specialized component used at the receiving end of belt conveyors to mitigate the impact of falling material on the conveyor belt. It is primarily used in corrosive industrial environments such as mining, coal washing plants, coking plants, and chemical plants. The roller shell and sealing parts of this product are made of polymer materials with mechanical properties similar to bronze. It has corrosion resistance, flame retardancy, anti-static properties, and self-lubricating functions. Its weight is half that of a standard roller.

Its standard diameter covers from φ89mm to φ159mm, with low rotational inertia and a service life more than 5 times longer than standard rollers. During installation, maintain a distance of 100-600mm below the receiving section of the conveyor. For large drop heights, it is recommended to use buffer bed components. Type selection requires testing for radial runout, axial play, and waterproof and dustproof performance.

The buffer roller is lightweight with low rotational inertia. The roller is made of special polymer material that weighs less than one seventh of steel. Rollers made from this material weigh about half as much as regular rollers, have low rotational inertia, and reduce friction between the roller and the belt.

Buffer rollers are installed below the receiving section of the conveyor to reduce the impact of material on the conveyor belt during unloading, thereby extending the lifespan of the conveyor belt. The spacing of buffer rollers is generally 100-600 millimeters.
