The EU Is Considering Setting A Price Cap On Natural Gas

 EU Commission President stated on Wednesday that the EU is considering measures to curb energy prices, including setting a cap on natural gas prices.

 This comes before the Iran war caused a surge in oil and gas prices; the EU had already begun drafting proposals to alleviate the difficulties faced by various sectors, with related companies stating that high energy costs make it impossible for them to compete with their rivals. "When natural gas prices determine electricity prices, reducing the impact of costs is crucial," The president said in the European Parliament. "We are preparing multiple options: optimizing electricity procurement agreements and the use of price difference contracts; implementing state aid measures; and exploring subsidies or price limits for natural gas."

 The proposal to limit natural gas prices may cause divisions among EU countries.
