1) Improve combustion efficiency and reduce energy waste
As the main type of briquette used in China, honeycomb coal, when paired with advanced stoves, has a thermal efficiency that is twice as high as that of burning loose coal. Among various clean coal technologies, industrial briquettes have the highest energy conversion rate, reaching 97.5%, which is significantly higher than other technologies. The boiler briquette products have a larger particle size, which ensures the necessary voids for combustion, resulting in higher combustion efficiency. At the same time, the exposed coal amount is less, saving 15% to 20% of coal compared to burning raw coal.
(2) Reduce environmental pollution
Using briquettes in boilers can significantly reduce air pollution. Compared to burning raw coal, SO2 emissions are reduced by about 40% to 60%, NO2 emissions are reduced by about 40%, particulate emissions are reduced by about 60%, and strong carcinogens (Bap) are reduced by more than 50%, resulting in a significant environmental benefit. Adding sulfur-fixing agents and binders during the processing of briquettes can reduce SO2 emissions by 40% to 50%, while also reducing the emission of solid dust. In addition, briquettes can use industrial and agricultural waste as binders, turning waste into treasure and reducing the emission of three types of waste. of briquette used in China, honeycomb coal, when paired with advanced stoves, has a thermal efficiency that is twice as high as that of burning loose coal. (3) Overcoming the performance deficiencies of a single coal type
In the process of briquette manufacturing, additives are used to combine and blend different types of coal with varying properties, improving indicators such as the bonding index, ignition point, ash content, ash melting point, sulfur content, fixed carbon, volatile matter, and calorific value. This enhances the coal's reactivity, flammability, thermal stability, and increases the ash melting point, resulting in high-quality products that meet customer requirements. For example, by blending coal, non-coking coal can be made into briquettes as a substitute for metallurgical coke; bituminous coal can be made into smokeless briquettes to replace smokeless coal blocks used in gas production, thereby expanding the ways in which coal can be utilized.
(4) Reduce the demand for lump coal
A significant portion of China's industrial boilers and kilns are of the solid fuel combustion type, which require the use of lump coal; the production of synthesis gas and fuel gas in China's fertilizer industry also requires lump coal. Developing industrial-type coal processing can alleviate the shortage of lump coal and open up technical pathways for the reasonable and effective utilization of fine coal.
