The Impact of Incorrect Roller Selection

During operation, the conveyor belt extends beyond the roller surface, causing abnormal wear on both ends of the idler rollers, and the welding points of the bearing housings wear through, leading to the detachment of the bearing housings

The 700 mm long idler roller may be used on the B650 belt conveyor, while the standard idler roller length is 750 mm The following Φ89-900 idlers are used for B800 belt width, and the standard length selected is 950. Because the B650 belt conveyor allows a deviation distance of ±40 millimeters, which means the operating width of the conveyor belt is 650+80=730 millimeters, using 700 mm long rollers will cause the conveyor belt to run off the edge of the rollers. The B800 conveyor allows a deviation distance of ±75mm, and the operating width of the conveyor belt is 800+150=950mm. Even when using 900mm long rollers at the limit, it will still extend beyond the roller surface.

The welding point between the roller surface and the bearing seat is 5mm in from the roller end. When the conveyor belt operates beyond the roller surface, it causes wear on the end surface. Once the welding point wears out, it will result in a loss of support for the roller, accelerating the wear of the bearing seat.
